The G7 15’s design is a massive improvement over its previous model design. The most notable change is ditching plastic for a metal finish, and its smaller overall footprint. The black matte hood of Dell G7 is home to a glossy blue Dell logo.

When you open the lid, you will be greeted by a lovely four-zone RGB rainbow wave on the keyboard. The deck is matte black.

Keyboard:

The Windows 10 gestures work perfect, such as two-finger scrolling and three-finger tabbing.

The Dell G7 15’s 6GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB) graphics card, paired with an Intel Core i7-9750H CPU, 16GB of RAM, plus a 256GB M.2 SSD and 1TB hard drive and a speedy 144 Hz refresh.

Audio:

The two speakers of the Dell G7 look small, but these bottom-firing speakers were decently loud, and the audio sounded decent. Nahimic technology was used by the Alienware Command center for tuning.

Performance:

The configuration of the Dell G7, great gaming laptop, used an Intel Core i7-9750H, a six-core, 12-thread CPU. It has a clock speed of 2.6 GHz and a turbo of 4.5 GHz. Battery Life

We run the battery test of this Dell gaming laptop, by continuously browserling the web, stream videos and runs OpenGL. The Dell laptop lasted just 3 hours and 12 minutes, i.e 52 minutes shorter than the average gaming laptops in this price range.

Heat

Dell G7 gets noticeably warm during heavy gameplay. After about 20 minutes, you will start feeling the heat on the keyboard.

On the left side, there’s a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3, a USB 3.1 port, and a headset jack.

The right flank holds a USB 3.1 port and a 2-in-1 SD card reader.

Note: Thunderbolt 3 support is only present on configurations with the RTX 2060.

Software

The newly added Alienware Command Center in Dell G7 is the star of the show. It can do anything from tweaking your audio with an EQ provided by Nahimic to customizing your keyboard lighting.

The most important feature of the Command Center is you can adjust your performance and create separate performance profiles for each game. You can also monitor the temperature and usage of your CPU, GPU, and RAM.
